Court Sparks

Court Sparks is a San Francisco–based artist working primarily in soft chalk pastels. Rather than applying pastel stick to paper in the traditional way, she grinds the chalk down to a fine pigment and applies it with a paintbrush — a technique that lends her work an unusual softness and painterly quality, closer to dry-brush painting than typical pastel work.

She continues to create and exhibit from her home base in San Francisco.
